When you send dollars from the United States and your recipient receives Mexican pesos, the exchange rate directly affects the amount delivered. It helps to distinguish a market reference rate from the rate offered by a particular transfer provider.
1. What does the USD/MXN rate mean?
It indicates how many Mexican pesos correspond to one US dollar. For example, a hypothetical rate of 19.00 MXN per USD means that 100 dollars would be equivalent to 1,900 pesos before any fees or other charges.
2. Market rate versus customer rate
A market reference rate offers a benchmark. Money transfer providers may offer a different rate because of their foreign-exchange margin and transaction costs. Two providers can therefore deliver different peso amounts even when their advertised fees look similar.
3. How are estimated pesos calculated?
A basic estimate multiplies the dollars converted by the applicable exchange rate. For example, 350 USD at a hypothetical rate of 19.30 MXN per USD would equal 6,755 MXN. This is not a current Pepe Pagos rate and excludes any potential fees.
4. What should you compare before sending?
Look at the total USD you will pay, the USD/MXN exchange rate, applicable fees, and the final amount your recipient is expected to receive. For a fair comparison, use the same total USD outlay across providers.
5. How to read the Pepe Pagos calculator
Our website calculator currently uses a test environment (Sandbox) and displays an indicative simulation. Those values may differ from production pricing and do not constitute a real, current, or executable quote. Always confirm final terms before making a payment.
